About me

In May 2024 I will join the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of UiT, the Artic University of Norway.

I am Group Leader of the reserach group Tropical Geometry and Computer Algebra at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences.

Between February 2017 and Septermber 2022, I was a postdoc at TU Berlin in the Discrete Mathematics/Geometry group of Michael Joswig and in the Einstein Fellowship research group Nonlinear Algebra of Bernd Sturmfels.

During the Summer Semester 2020 I was a substitute professor at Universität Osanbrück in the group Algebra und Diskrete Geometrie.

I obtained my PhD in October 2016 at KU Leuven under the supervision of Filip Cools, Marc Coppens and Wim Veys.

Research interests

My research domains are algebraic geometry, tropical geometry and their interactions, with a focus on computational aspects. I have been working on topics involving geometric and combinatorial properties of tropical curves and surfaces, matroids and tropical linear spaces, realization spaces of polytopes, lattice polytopes and their triangulations, and Brill-Noether theory of algebraic and tropical curves.
